What is the insurance policy processing time?

Each provider may have slightly different processing times. Once booking and payment have been completed through the system it can take somewhere between 2 to 24 hours. However, if any amendments are required, such as updating an incorrect date it could take up to 5 business days.

The Edvisor team will always notify you when your policy purchase has been confirmed and is available on your platform.

Who can I contact in Edvisor for questions or support regarding an insurance booking?

Edvisor’s Customer Support team is always available through the Chat (in both the Edvisor for Agents and Edvisor Recruit platforms) and ready to help our partner agencies with any questions or requests regarding potential or purchased insurance bookings.

For any questions regarding the agreements you hold through the Edvisor marketplace, please reach out directly to your Account Manager.

Why can I only purchase OSHC/international insurance policies with NET pricing?

Edvisor offers agencies payment in NET pricing only to allow our partners to instantly keep their commission on the policies purchased. The purchase confirmation and policy will only detail the gross price so that you can share this with your student.

In case that company have access to the Landing page, the student will pay the gross price. Review the SIF conditions.

What currency will I be charged in when purchasing insurance?

You will be charged according to the currency shown in the platform when you purchase your student’s insurance. For example, when purchasing an OSHC policy you will be charged AUD.

How can I include insurance policies in my student proposals on Edvisor for Agents or Edvisor Recruit?

In the Add-on section of your Edvisor for Agents or Edvisor Recruit platform (accessible to platform Admin only) you will find all of your insurance options. Here you will find the sale price as suggested by Edvisor. In the case of international insurance options, the sale price can be adjusted by the agency directly. This is not the case for OSHC:

  • In EFA this is not the case for OSHC, which needs to be sold at its official sale price as detailed here: edvisor.io/oshc-express
  • In ER the prices are correct so in the quote, the student will receive the gross amount and the company will pay the net price directly on this section.

Can I book a “single” policy to each individual of a Family?

Every foreign student travelling to Australia requires OSHC (see only exceptions below).

Please note: Overseas students who don’t maintain adequate health insurance are at risk of having their visa cancelled.

How should I calculate the start date of a student policy?

In order to study in Australia, it is a requirement for students to have OSHC. Due to agreements held between respective governments, the exceptions to this rule are students from Belgium; Norway; and Sweden.

If a student has been granted a family visa, their dependents must be insured under the same policy. If single policies are issued for each member of the family, they risk not being covered as the only valid policy would be of the main applicant.

Can I book a “single” policy to each individual of a Family?

The OSHC policy must cover the entire duration of a student’s visa (course + holiday).

What happens if a student doesn’t arrive on the planned date?

  • Less 8 month 1 month extra- If the student course duration is less than 8months, the student will be granted the visa for the course duration plus another month at the end of his studies
  • More than 8 month, 2 month extra If the student course duration is longer than 8months, the student will be granted the visa for the course duration plus 2 months at the end of his studies
  • More than 8 month finishing 15 dec - until 15 march If the student course duration is longer than 8months (and) the course ends in December, the student is “likely” to be granted the visa for the course duration plus another 3 months holiday at the end of his studies. “The famous 15th of March visas renewals"

How do I calculate the end date of my student policy?

No. Only Australian-registered private health insurers can offer OSHC. Furthermore, not all Australian insurers can offer OSHC, they must first have signed the OSHC Deed with the Australian Government.  This is because the Australian Government wants to be able to monitor and regulate insurers covering people living temporarily in Australia. The Government is not able to protect the interests of people insured by overseas insurance companies in the same way.

Can I cancel an existing policy?

You can only cancel an OSHC policy if the student leaves Australia permanently, starts a new OSHC membership with a different provider, has their visa rejected or is granted a different visa. For any of these cases, you will need to submit supporting documentation such as the new student policy, new visa granted, student COE cancelled, flight tickets or VEVO check to support your request. Remember, the student needs to be continuously covered by a OSHC policy while they are in Australia.

Can I switch my OSHC membership to another provider?

You must complete the cancelation form available here and submit the applicable documents from the below list:

Not necessarily. Students can register for an online membership service where they can see all the relevant information relating to their policies (where they can find a doctor, make a claim, etc).
